What to Expect

During this hands-on milagro making workshop, guests will be introduced to the beautiful tradition of creating small symbolic charms from tin.

Milagros, meaning “miracles” in Spanish, have long been used to petition for hope, protection, and healing as well as offerings of gratitude and intention. In this session, each participant will create their own set of tin milagros inspired by personal meaning, folk art traditions, and the devotional arts of New Mexico.

We will begin with a brief introduction to the history and symbolism of milagros, including interpretations of the heart, hands, eyes, home, animals, journeys, prayers, and wishes for the future. Guests will be invited to choose symbols that feel meaningful to them, whether they are creating a charm for protection, remembrance, good luck, healing, or simple beauty.

Participants will then learn how to work with thin sheets of tin using beginner-friendly tools and techniques.

This workshop is designed to be accessible, reflective, and relaxed.

No tin-working experience is needed. Tin is lightweight, luminous, and surprisingly expressive, catching every small mark.

By the end of the session, each guest will leave with handmade tin milagros that can be kept as personal tokens, given as gifts, added to an altar, framed, hung in the home, or carried as reminders of hope and intention.

This is a creative experience for anyone who enjoys meaningful making, New Mexican folk traditions, and the quiet magic of working with their hands.
